The Superannuated Teachers of Saskatchewan is an organization of retired
teachers who are dedicated to promoting the welfare of all superannuated
teachers, and to maintaining the ties which bind them to fellow
professionals. There are over 12,000 members in our organization.
The Saskatoon Chapter works to promote the well-being of the
superannuated teachers of the Saskatoon area.
Chapters
The Saskatoon Chapter is the largest of the forty-two chapters that
comprise the Superannuated Teachers of Saskatchewan, with
over 2,900 members.
The Saskatoon Chapter meets regularly to discuss issues of concern, to
enjoy a variety of programs planned to interest and inform our membership,
as well as to socialize with former colleagues and new friends.
Our e-mail committee communicates regularly with our membership to
keep them informed of the meeting and activity dates. If you are not
receiving the monthly emails and wish to be included – please contact
Irma Kittelson ijkitt@sasktel.net.
The card committee mails cards to members as appropriate to support or
congratulate members. The card committee co-chairs really appreciate
being informed of those for whom cards are needed.
Our Chapter Outreach Committee members communicate on a regular
basis with members who do not have email, to inform them of upcoming
Chapter events. They also visit and keep in touch with fellow STS retirees
who may be in hospital, care homes or in their own homes, but unable to
attend Chapter meetings, events and activities.
If you know of a Chapter member who would benefit from our support,
please contact Carol Shanner at (306) 514-8415 or cshanner@shaw.ca or
Shirley Henderson at (306) 374-5388 or rshenderson@sasktel.net and a
visit will be arranged.
Our chapter newsletter, The Voice, will be mailed to members in August.
Many chapter members prefer to read the newsletter online; this saves
mailing costs as well as is more environmentally friendly. Please e-mail
Irma Kittelson, ijkitt@sasktel.net, if you would like to change to reading
online. Our winter ( January) and spring ( April – May) editions will only be
mailed to those who have requested mailed copies. Other members will be
able to read these issues online at their convenience.
The Chapter Directory is produced in alternate years (odd-numbered years)
with chapter members’ names and addresses. If you do not wish to be
listed in the Directory, please contact one of the the Membership
Chairpersons. Barb Alberton or Janet Lowndes. The next Directory will be
published in 2027. Due to privacy issues we are unable to put our
membership list online.
